Pulau Tioman, Part 1

Pulau Tioman has a reputation for being one of Malaysia's most beautiful island getaways. The sea surrounding the island is home to some of the country's best diving and snorkelling and with this in mind, we did some research and booked ourselves into the advertised-as-exotic Tunamaya Beach and Spa Resort.

From the rather chaotic main ferry pier, a Tunamaya speedboat picked us up to take us to the secluded little section of beach that housed our bungalows.
As promised, the water was invitingly clear. Unfortunately, Paul caught a glimpse of a passing baby reef shark and that was the end of his foray into the water.
Unlike most of our holidays, the ensuing days devolved into a series of beach time, nap time and not much else. The weather remained humid and perfectly beachy.
I won't lie; I got a bit stir crazy. With only the hotel restaurant to eat at and only this beach to wander, I was forced to stop, sit and read for a while. Horrible problems, I'm aware.
Sunset after beautiful sunset, the time went surprisingly quickly. And sooner than later, I was putting Paul on a ferry back to Mersing to head back to Singapore to go back to London.

As for me, I made my way back to Tioman's main ferry port in order to head to a more populated (but only slightly more populated) part of the island. Rosa joined me a day later.
This time, we took to the water to swim amongst the sharks.
