Heading North to the 'busier' side of Pulau Tioman, I made my way to stay at Tioman Dive Resort in Air Batang Village (ABC, for short), smack in the middle of a motorcycle/pedestrian-only pavement. I'd heard rumours that the tourist crowds had reached Tioman but thus far, we were doing very well. The only crowd I could really discern numbered in its teens. This 'crowd' was made of novice divers making their way to the sea floor surrounding the island.
So crowded was the town that within minutes of my wanderings I discovered the following:A monitor lizard looking for lunch:
So upbeat was the lifestyle that I had to head to the dive shop in order to obtain wifi. My view of the windsurfers was almost unbearable:
Unlike our private Tunamaya Resort, a smattering of guesthouses, bungalows dotted the landscape. There wasn't a lot but there was enough. At Nazri's we had amazing curry and down the 'road' we arranged a snorkel trip to the various hot spots and beaches:
The water here was crystal clear and the wildlife below seemed unbothered by our presence.
ABC turned out to be a laid-back, low-key little slice of heaven.
