Summer 2018 in Review

Ten weekdays stand between me and the start of the 2018-2019 school year. You'd think seven point five weeks of summer holidays would be enough for me to feel suitably rested, relaxed and prepared for the upcoming year. And yet. The to-do list remains to-be-done and there's still so much sleep to catch up on.

As it goes, the less I do with my time the quicker it seems to go. So this week's agenda of napping, yoga, dog walking and Gilmore Girl watching has the propensity to go quite quickly. But this summer has also been a summer of epic travels and a continental first: hola, South America! It hasn't come without its hiccups and various gastrointestinal distresses but that's part of the fun.

So in brief(ish):

With a conglomeration of international school friends, we planned a trip to South Africa between three countries and three time zones. The trip included some epic wildlife spotting and some epic scenery. The South Africa itinerary--Kruger National Park (safari!); Cape Town; Stellenbosch; Frranschoek (wine drinking!); Hermanus (whale watching!); Gordon's Bay (and up the Cape); back to Cape Town.

After a brief stop in London, Paul and I made our way to Central and South America. Because the best trips always start with where we can find a cheap flight to, Panama was where we landed first. Panama City might not be the most exciting capital city on earth but we did find some charming ways to spend our time at the beginning and the end of the trip. Our itinerary included: Panama--Casco Viejo; the Panama Canal; the stunning San Blas islands; and then onto Colombia--Medellin; coffee tasting; Cartagena; before heading back to Panama.

Blogging to come. I mean, I've yet to finish Summer 2017 or any of the last school year but it's not for want of wanting to. Life gets busy.
